It was one of those moments every parent fears!
I was in a crowded store shopping when I saw the face of a frantic mother.
Her young daughter was missing!
Her child was lost!
I quickly grabbed a store employee who immediately followed his training and alerted security. Within seconds, an announcement was made over the store PA system and the doors in front of the building were put on immediate lock down!
The entire floor staff of the store dropped what they were doing and began searching everywhere for the lost child.
Nothing was more important to them at that time than finding and saving the young girl! Her future was at stake!
Within minutes, she was found safe and sound on the other side of the store.
What Would We Do?
Each of us in that mother’s position would have done the same thing she did. She made finding her daughter her instant priority. How tired she was, how much money she had, her list of things “to do” simply did not take priority.
Her baby was lost and needed to be found before it was to late!
Wisdom From A Mother
As Christians, we can learn a valuable lesson from this mother.
The urgency she experienced, reminded me of the words of Jesus in Luke 19:10
“For the son of man came to seek and save that which was lost”,
and, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature…”. Mark 16:15a
While many Christians are enjoying themselves shopping in “the store of life”, we have forgotten the “store” is full of the lost. People not just lost for a moment…but people whose very souls are in danger of being lost for all eternity.
Our family, our friends, our co-workers, and the strangers we meet all have this in common…they all have a soul, and that soul must live forever in one of two places!
As Christians, it is our responsibility to reach out lovingly with the gospel of Jesus Christ. God had made that our responsibility. Souls matter. Time is short.
How do you think we are doing?
